But I Want to Eat the Cupcake

Do you ever get the feeling like you’re being judged when you’re eating something you’re not supposed to?  Try living with a trainer.  With 9% body fat.  Who is also your boyfriend.  Oh, and I'm addicted, like seriously addicted to decadent desserts.  Some people black out after they have a couple of drinks...yeah, me, I black out after a couple of cupcakes.  And then I eat like 10 more.  (ps. I black out after a couple of drinks too).

FML.

So here's the deal.  I have the most wonderful boyfriend ever.  Super supportive, loves me just the way I am.  Even loves that I'm ALWAYS trying to lose that last 15 pounds.  You know the ones I'm talking about right?  And I would lose them too. Especially if I followed his super supportive, "I only have 9% body fat and I do this for a living" advice.  I'm not bitter.  Please.  The man literally plans his workouts based on his food consumption.  One time I caught him counting out how many push-ups it would take to work off the Nacho's he just demolished.  I mean who does that!!  Anyway, back to me.

I'm not saying that he judges me or tells me what to eat or not to eat in those exact words - he mostly just reminds me of what the repercussions are for my indulgence and tells me not to do it.  But yeah... uhm like most people, I eat whatever I want, blackout over a plate of cupcakes, feel like crap, see no progress with the scale, and then whine about it.  If I had a penny for every time I got the "I told you so" speech, I'd have just enough to purchase a box of donuts.  Speaking of donuts...

I went to the apple orchard Saturday to get cider.  I was so not remembering the whole donuts and candy apples part of this deal.  Of course Mr. 9% downs like 6 donuts and a candy apple, then drops for a quick 20 pushups.  Jerk.  I mean, snook 'ems.  No way I'm getting down in the mud, this is a brand new shirt dammit!  So I put my big girl panties on, mustered up some inner strength and will-power and refrained from blowing my diet (mostly because I could hear Daman’s voice in my head telling me not to, I would be upset, yadda yadda,).

Hooray!  Cortney -1 and Donuts – 0!
Eat it Daman!

  2. My blackout as of late has been Mediterranean food, which isn't all that bad...unless you just eat it because. It's just soooo good! Hats off to you. I'd probably starve around you guys!

  3. Love your post! Major props to you for your motivation. I know how tough it can be to live with a health nut. I do everything I can to avoid gym nights!

These are the things I hate about you, and yes, I'm talking to you!

Any serious gym goer knows that there are certain unspoken rules and etiquette to follow while working out at a gym.   In my many years of experience I have witnessed numerous acts of stupidity along with plain old selfishness.   After a recent visit to the gym I was inspired to share a few of my pet peeves.   I have listed a few below (not all of them, no one needs to know what a crazy lunatic I am) for your reading pleasure.   Pet Peeve #18 So the other night while I was at the gym working out I had to stop myself from marching up to this idiot and give him the “WHAT FOR,” as my friends like to say. This D-bag that felt is necessary to rack the leg press machine with 12 45lb weights, do one set with not even pressing half-way, and then walk away “forgetting” to un-rack the weights.   Like I don’t want to get my work out by cleaning up after you buddy!   I refrained from bitching this guy out (mainly because Daman wasn’t there to back me up), but ...

Cortney "Friendly" Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yesterday was a great day for some relaxing and having some fresh baked cookies!  With my restricted diet I decided to take me first attempt at baking some gluten-free, eggless, and dairy-free cookies.  Oh, come on, they don’t sound that bad…do they?  I picked up a bag of Bob’s Red Mill gluten free all-purpose baking flour and used the cookie recipe on the back of the bag as my recipe guideline.   The recipe is as  follows:  ·        1-1/2 cups  Gluten Free Oat Flour ·        1 cup  GF All Purpose Baking Flour ·        1 cup Organic Sugar ·        1/4 cup  Flaxseed Meal ·        1/4 cup  Arrowroot Starch ·        1-1/2 tsp  Xanthan Gum ·        1 tsp  Baking Soda ·     ...

Pumpkin Time!

It’s that time of year where pumpkin pie is everywhere for Thanksgiving.   Truth be told, I have never cared for pumpkin pie, or any pie for that matter.   I am the type of girl who says, “why have that, when I can have chocolate!” However, last week I tried a slice of raw pumpkin pie and I was in love!   So I have decided to try and make my own raw pumpkin pie for thanksgiving dinner because it is not only delicious, but it is “Cortney friendly.”   My first step in creating this master piece is to create raw pumpkin puree.   Here is how I did it.. First you’re going to need pie pumpkins.   Cut the tops off just like you would when you get your pumpkins ready for Halloween. Next cut the pumpkins in half and clean out all of the seeds.   Once you’ve cleaned your pumpkins you can begin to peel the skin off. Slice up pumpkin and then cut into chunks.   Then place your pumpkin in your food processor and puree!  * I wou...
