Stop Sabotaging Your Diet!

It's pretty discouraging when you work hard at the gym all week long but then somehow seem to magically sabotage all that work!  Here are some of the ways we sabotage our weightless goals.

Binging on the weekends – It’s so easy to tell yourself that you deserve that bottle, uh…I mean glass of wine or that giant slice of cake because it’s the weekend and it’s only this one time.  The next thing you know it’s been two days of overindulging and then Monday morning is here and my pants are a little snug.

Letting your cravings take over– When trying to lose weight it’s easy to feel deprived. Unlike the every day normal hunger that we all feel every day, cravings, are strong yearnings for certain foods. Emotions, situations, or pleasant can trigger a craving.  I definitely am an emotional eater and I will give into these cravings and then overindulge and feel like even bigger crap!  Sometimes it is easier for me to work through these cravings and other times I really have to buckle down and repeatedly remind myself why I should stay strong and stick with my goals.

Drinking your calories – Another way to sneak those pesky extra calories in is by drinking soda, juices, sugary coffee drinks, and alcohol.  I know it’s hard, but avoiding those happy hours can really make a huge difference in your waistline.  Overall you want to avoid these drinks and get your calories from lean meats, fresh fruit and vegetables.

Lack of preparation  - Preparation is key to success.  Stop yourself from making unhealthy choices by preparing your meals ahead of time and bringing your food with you wherever you go.  I like to spend a few hours on Sunday’s preparing my meals for the week so I just grab my meals and go.   When all of my food is prepared, ready to go, it eliminates the possibility of me reaching for unhealthy options.

Work hard and stay strong!  Don’t let your hard work be undone by moments of weakness.

These are the things I hate about you, and yes, I'm talking to you!

Any serious gym goer knows that there are certain unspoken rules and etiquette to follow while working out at a gym.   In my many years of experience I have witnessed numerous acts of stupidity along with plain old selfishness.   After a recent visit to the gym I was inspired to share a few of my pet peeves.   I have listed a few below (not all of them, no one needs to know what a crazy lunatic I am) for your reading pleasure.   Pet Peeve #18 So the other night while I was at the gym working out I had to stop myself from marching up to this idiot and give him the “WHAT FOR,” as my friends like to say. This D-bag that felt is necessary to rack the leg press machine with 12 45lb weights, do one set with not even pressing half-way, and then walk away “forgetting” to un-rack the weights.   Like I don’t want to get my work out by cleaning up after you buddy!   I refrained from bitching this guy out (mainly because Daman wasn’t there to back me up), but ...

Cortney "Friendly" Chocolate Chip Cookies

Yesterday was a great day for some relaxing and having some fresh baked cookies!  With my restricted diet I decided to take me first attempt at baking some gluten-free, eggless, and dairy-free cookies.  Oh, come on, they don’t sound that bad…do they?  I picked up a bag of Bob’s Red Mill gluten free all-purpose baking flour and used the cookie recipe on the back of the bag as my recipe guideline.   The recipe is as  follows:  ·        1-1/2 cups  Gluten Free Oat Flour ·        1 cup  GF All Purpose Baking Flour ·        1 cup Organic Sugar ·        1/4 cup  Flaxseed Meal ·        1/4 cup  Arrowroot Starch ·        1-1/2 tsp  Xanthan Gum ·        1 tsp  Baking Soda ·     ...

But I Want to Eat the Cupcake

Do you ever get the feeling like you’re being judged when you’re eating something you’re not supposed to?  Try living with a trainer.  With 9% body fat.  Who is also your boyfriend.  Oh, and I'm addicted, like seriously addicted to decadent desserts.  Some people black out after they have a couple of drinks...yeah, me, I black out after a couple of cupcakes.  And then I eat like 10 more.  (ps. I black out after a couple of drinks too). FML. So here's the deal.  I have the most wonderful boyfriend ever.  Super supportive, loves me just the way I am.  Even loves that I'm ALWAYS trying to lose that last 15 pounds.  You know the ones I'm talking about right?  And I would lose them too. Especially if I followed his super supportive, "I only have 9% body fat and I do this for a living" advice.  I'm not bitter.  Please.  The man literally plans his workouts based on his food consumption.  O...
