Any serious gym goer knows that there are certain unspoken
rules and etiquette to follow while working out at a gym. In my many years of experience I have witnessed
numerous acts of stupidity along with plain old selfishness. After a recent visit to the gym I was
inspired to share a few of my pet peeves.
I have listed a few below (not all of them, no one needs to know what a
crazy lunatic I am) for your reading pleasure.
Pet Peeve #18
So the other night while I was at the gym working out I had
to stop myself from marching up to this idiot and give him the “WHAT FOR,” as
my friends like to say. This D-bag that felt is necessary to rack the leg press
machine with 12 45lb weights, do one set with not even pressing half-way, and
then walk away “forgetting” to un-rack the weights. Like I don’t want to get my work out by
cleaning up after you buddy! I refrained
from bitching this guy out (mainly because Daman wasn’t there to back me up),
but I did go up to him and politely (in my sweet bitchy girl voice) ask him to
re-rack his weights.
Pet Peeve #267
You know whom I make fun of at the gym? Plastics (Please see Mean Girls to understand
this reference). The women who come in
with their push-up bras and prom make up!
I swear I want to push these women off of the bleeping treadmill! Like really?!? Who does that!? If you are coming into the gym with your fake
eyelashes, lip-gloss and the tightest top known to man, you are not there to
work out! Everyone knows you’re there
looking for husband number whatever! I
recently brought a friend to the gym with me and she was like, “you didn’t tell
me that this was a fashion show!” I am
all about not looking like a slob but come on!
We are here to work out, sweat, and feel the burn!
Pet Peeve #1
Hitting on my man is my number one peeve and should be
punishable by death! Whores! When Daman and I are fortunate enough to work
out together I do not want to have to worry about some tramp coming up to him
every time I leave his side. I can
literally walk away from Daman and within a minute some female (whore!) will be
in Daman’s face. The kicker is when I
return to his side these women will majority of the time not even acknowledge
me until I butt into the conversation to introduce myself. I then make sure to stare them down and give
plenty of evil eyes in their direction.
Daman is so nice and he talks to everyone. Women are
not the only ones who flock to Daman in my absence; men actually do this too
(but they’re usually not hitting on him, it’s more like a man crush kind of
thing). I once observed a man with
eyebrows better than mine talking to Daman about what his diet, wanting to know
everything Daman eats, when he eats, how eats, etc. The next thing I know this Pauly D
look-a-like is reaching over lifting up Daman’s shirt, asking him if he can see
his abs! Ummm…Man whore! Stop touching my man! Like where are the boundaries here!?
Thank you for listening to my rant. If anyone has any comments, stories or gym
pet peeves they would like to share, please do :-)
LOL love it Cort! My pet peeves are the orgasmic grunters, the runner backwards on a treadmill and the very loud singers!! Sitcom anyone?
ReplyDeleteLOL! Orgasmic grunters! Good one! There is definitely sitcom material for SURE!
DeleteI'm with you on Pet Peeve #267!!! Even at boxing class, some women come in with their full war paint on and barely hit it hard for fear that their airbrushed foundation may give way. It's annoying. I'm in their busting my a##, pushing myself to the max and then look over to see Barbie barely tapping the bag. A couple weeks ago we had 2 "Plastics" in the class and the most annoying thing was that neither of them did what the trainer told the entire class to do. He would yell out for mountain climbers and they would stand there and stretch. It was throughout the entire hour workout and by the end I was seeing red. Not only because I found it annoying to see them not working hard but I found it entirely disrespectful to the trainer. And of course I agree with your #1 Pet Peeve as well. That's why I wear boxing gloves in class....don't look at my man!!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYes to #267! That annoys me, too!
ReplyDeletePet peeve #18 is incredibly frustrating. I just started going to the gym about a year and a half ago and I hate when people won't put away their weights. I also get really frustrated when they put the dumbells back wherever they feel like and not in their proper spot. (ex: putting 80 lb bells on the 40 lb rack)
